Edge to Edge Jacket
Size: Large. Actual measurement Back Length 79cm (30 inches).
A collared edge to edge jacket knitted from hand spun Beulah Speckle Face fleece with a simple block border and speckle effect pattern in violets/turquoise. To complete the garment pockets have been added in the side seams.
Beulah Speckleface sheep are usually white, but occasionally a grey sheep is born. Luckily for Sue the lady from whose farm this fleece came keeps them.
Round Neck Cardigan/Jacket
Size: Medium. Actual measurement Back Length 64cm (25 inches)
A traditional round neck button to the neck cardigan in hand spun Border Leicester with the coloured yarn hand spun from space-dyed fleece and Nvajo plied (3ply) to keep the colours separate.
The pattern used has produced a double-layered effect to the fabric which makes it a snug and warm, but very light-weight, garment to wear. Almost like wearing a hug!
Simple Sweater
Size: Large. Actual measurement Back Length 58.5cm (23 inches)
A very simple sweater with the body made up from four knitted blocks. The centre seams on the front and back have been used to add a further simple design element to the garment.
The fleece used is Isle de France cross. It was a lamb fleece, so the fibre was even softer than usual. Here Sue spun a fine thread and used Navajo plying to give a three ply yarn and keep the many shades, from light beige to dark brown, in the fleece separate.
