Fibres Used:

All natural fibres - silk, wool, alpaca, linen

Fabrics used:

  • Habotai Silk (crisp, shiny), Georgette Silk (matt, drapy),
  • 60% Wool / 40% Alpaca mix (This has been specially spun and woven for me locally from locally grown wool. The wool in this mix has been grown to Organic standards),
  • 100% wool and rough silk.

Dyes Used:

All dyes used are chemical dyes. These are non toxic. I use acetic acid as my acid and washing up liquid as my wetting agent. All dye waste can then go into the general sewage system.

Note:

I do not use Vegetable dyes as these are NOT environmentally friendly. The dye stuff itself may be, but the mordants (chemicals) used to make sure the dye stuff sticks to the fibre are not.
eg: Alum (aluminium sulphate) and Oxalic acid.

Vegetable dyes also tend not to be light fast, ie. they fade quickly.
